The Venice Carnival 2019 runs from February 16th until March 5th.
Feb 17 – The Canal Grande hosts the music parade. Meet at the Rio di Cannaregio. Enjoy food vendors and many other Canival attractions.
Feb 28 – Best Masked Costume 2019 – Contest
Every day a catwalk is set to allow competitors display their finest costume for the public to vote on. It runs from 3:30 to 5:00, semi-finals are on February 28th and March 2nd. The final parade is on March 3rd at 2:30
The contest is free to enter. You must apply by Decempber 2018.
Feb 24 – Flight of the Angel (Opening Cermony)
The angel is last years winner from the Festa delle Marie. Starts at 11:00am.
March 3rd – Eagle flight – VIP flight
The person who will perform the flight is still unknown.
After enjoying the success of the Flight of the Angel, starting from Venice Carnival 2012 the organising committee has decided to introduce the ‘Flight of the Eagle’, traditionally happening one week after the Flight of the Angel and featuring similar dynamics. Important personalities in the sport, cinema and music usually take central stage in this celebration disguised like one of the most beloved characters of Venice’s carnival: Pulcinella.
March 3rd – Mascheranda Grand Ball.
If you’re looking for an authentic Venetian masquerade, then the Mascheranda Grand Ball on the 3rd of March is most important date on your calendar! This decadent Venetian masquerade is one of the most important events on the Venice Carnival calendar. It takes place on in the Palazzo Pisani Moretta, overlooking the Grand Canal. This evening of wonders begins with aperitif and an impressive performance by costumed performers. Afterwards, you will attend a gala dinner in the Longhi and Tiepolo Saloon. You can expect the finest food Venice has to offer and for entertainment to be provided while you eat. After dinner, our Master of Ceremonies with led the performances, with classical music and traditional artists of the Commedia dell’arte. Then we dance; learn how to dance the minuet and play some traditional Venetian party games.
