Kid's board games get a bad rap, and with good reason. Roll a die or spin a spinner, move a piece, the end. Usually there's no thought or any sort of strategy required. Thankfully we're living in a board game golden age, and that golden touch has made its way to kid's games.
In Stomp the Plank, each player gets an adorable chunky elephant pirate, the game box becomes the ship with cardboard planks magnetically attached to it, and the elephants each move to the start of their own plank.
The goal is to not be the elephant that falls of the plank first! Or if you don't want the game to end, which is likely, the winner is the last elephant standing after everyone else has gone into the drink.
Gameplay is simple, first turn over a card to find a treasure, then decide if you want to end your turn or get more treasure. If you want to end your turn, that's it, but if you want to push your luck, you can turn over another card. If this card doesn't match the first one, you can end your turn and all other players get a wooden disk to put on the end of their planks (weighing them down and making it more likely that the elephants will tumble into the sea). You can then keep turning over cards one at a time, and for every additional card revealed, every other player gets one more disk! But beware, if at any time you turn over a card that matches one already revealed, your turn is immediately over and your elephant must advance one step down the plank and no one has to get any disks. The game goes around like that, with players trying to give there opponents as many disks as possible to cause their plank to tip and their elephant to tumble, but without moving down the plank which makes it soooooo much more likely that they'll fall. It's a delicate balance, both in pushing your luck just far enough without busting, and also the literal balance of the elephant on the plank weighed down at the end by the disks.
It's simple, it's fun, and it can be hilarious. This is a game I think anyone could have a great time with, even for just adults!

How To
Tips
Keep it fun! Board games are a great way to teach children good sportsmanship. Model good behavior, stay light and silly, and if the same child is about to lose multiple times in a row, you can purposefully push your luck too far, bust, and move your elephant a little too hard down the plank to lose without making it obvious.
